Do you use View Templates? If you don't you could be making more work for yourself.

Using View Templates is a good way to ensure your company standards are applied to the views and you can achieve consistency across all your documention.

So here is a quick tip on how to apply your View Templates to All the Views on your drawing Sheets. If you can image when you have a large number view within your Project Browser you are going to be scrolling up and down, and then selecting each view on which you wish to apply your templates too.

Option One

A View Template can be applied either by selecting the view and apply the template properties.

Note: This only applies the template once and if it changes you need to reapply it.

Option Two

Setting the View Template to the view on a permanent basis, so when you update the view template the views automatically update.

Option Three

Is to apply a View Template to all the Views on the sheet. This can be done by selecting the sheet or sheets and right-click and then click Apply View Templates to All Views.

This will then apply the View Template to all the views currently attached to the sheet selected.

Before View Template Applied

Below is an example before the View Template has been applied.

After View Template Applied

A few things you need to consider:

  1. When a View Template is applied it’s not assigned to those views, it’s just applied. So any changes to the View Template won’t affect the views.

  2. Make sure all the views have the same scale otherwise you will change scale to suit the one set within the View Template.

  3. If a View Template is already assigned to a View, then only the properties which aren't controlled by the View Template will be changed.
